Under Construction
Photographic series, exhibited at Queen Mary University of London, 2016.
Exhibited as 5 A2 sized posters, Under Construction featured actions performed to a camera using construction materials, exploring identity construction, reconstruction and deconstruction. Throughout the project’s development, I was exploring the idea of my skin as a boundary that can be acted upon but not transgressed, and that my identity is contained beneath it. Each of the materials, sandpaper, electrical wire, hazard tape, cable ties and paint, interacted with this boundary but could not pass through it.
Each image was accompanied by poetic text exploring the abstract concepts of my own identity construction. These texts were hosted online, accessible by scanning a QR code beside each poster.
