Hyem

Performance-to-camera, total duration 10 minutes, 2020.

A performance-to-camera adapting a previous work, Glass Scratch, under lockdown restrictions, Hyem was an exploration into ways of producing intimacy with an audience mediated through online video. Part of a body of work exploring Queer Monstrosity and Northern identity through wyrm folktales, the song tells the myth of the Lambton Worm - a departure from the queer anthem pop song chosen in the original work. The title refers to the Northern slang hyem or hjem, meaning home.

Hyem was originally shown as part of Live Art Club's Online showcase, March 2020.
